Max Verstappen (Red Bull) won the sprint race of the United States Grand Prix, 19th of 24 rounds of the Formula 1 world championship on Saturday at the Circuit of the Americas.

The Dutchman, three-time world champion, largely dominated these 19 laps of the race on the Austin track. Everything depended on him before Lando Norris was in control until the last lap. The Briton from McLaren made a small error (locking wheels) and let second place slip away in favor of the Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Ferrari).

The latter’s teammate, Charles Leclerc, tried everything in the last kilometers of the course but did not manage to take a place on the podium. The Monegasque narrowly avoided an accident with Norris.

The top 5 in the sprint race is completed by the Briton George Russel (Mercedes), who started second but produced a mixed performance. Followed by his teammate and compatriot Lewis Hamilton, the two Haas of Dane Kevin Magnussen and German Nico Hulkenberg as well as the Red Bull of Mexican Sergio Perez and the McLaren of Australian Oscar Piastri to form the top 10.

Vertsappen has not won a Grand Prix since Spain on June 23.
