Lazio, VAR controversy. Sports director Fabiani: “Douglas Luiz punches Patric and he doesn’t intervene…”

October 19 – 11.32pm – MILANO

“The entire football movement demands uniformity of judgements.” This is what the Biancoceleste sporting director Angelo Fabiani thundered immediately after the Juventus-Lazio match. He is the one who immediately introduces himself to Sky’s microphones and the controversy flares up around one episode in particular: “Douglas Luiz punches Patric just before we concede a goal but the VAR didn’t intervene there. The same player then entered with the hammer foot on Rovella, and even there he didn’t intervene, which he instead did on the expulsion episode. What purpose does this VAR serve? one way. And it’s not something that concerns Lazio but all of football. So we don’t go anywhere unless we play soccer…”.

“unspeakable damage”

“There is no uniformity, the VAR is doing unspeakable damage this season – continued the Biancoceleste manager -. It is not clear why violent conduct is not sanctioned. If two weeks ago they assessed that Tavares in Florence was hit by the opponent’s ankle , and they give us a penalty, why isn’t this Douglas Luiz sanctioned today? Rocchi must put this situation right, not for Lazio but for the entire football movement.”
