Borussia Dortmund came out on top against promoted Sankt Pauli (2-1) this Friday, October 18 at home in the opening of the 7e day of the German championship, four days away from challenging Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Nuri Sahin’s men signed their fourth victory of the season in the Bundesliga, all won in their Westfalenstadion, while the record is much less brilliant away from their bases (two defeats and a draw).
Thanks to this success, BVB has 13 points and puts pressure on the leading pack (Bayern and Leipzig 14 points, Frankfurt 13 pts, Friborg 12 pts, Leverkusen and Union Berlin 11 pts) before the other matches of the 7e day Saturday and Sunday.
Guirassy still scores
The winning goal was scored by Serhou Guirassy, ideally served by Jamie Bynoe Gittens. On a perfect cross, the Guinean international headed back and deceived Sankt Pauli goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj in the 83rde minute (2-1), five minutes after Eric Smith’s superb equalizer (78′), with an unstoppable half-volley from 25 meters for Gregor Kobel.
Dortmund opened the scoring at the end of the first period through Ramy Bensebaini, already with a header, on a cross from Pascal Gross (1-0, 43′).

This victory, more convincing in content in the second half, as well as the scenario to obtain it, gives confidence to Emre Can’s teammates before facing Real Madrid on Tuesday evening in the Champions League. BVB occupies first place in the league phase of the new C1 formula with 6 points, while Real has only 3, after two days.
