The UCI crammed the twelve rounds of the World Cup into just two months to get Van Aert and Van der Poel at the start as much as possible. The question, however, is whether the cyclo-cross World Cup keeps him awake at night.

Eli Iserbyt, winner of the World Cup last season, does not see Van der Poel and Van Aert as a threat. “Unfair competition? That doesn’t exist in cross country,” he says The Newspaper. He welcomes Van Aert and Van der Poel with open arms in the cross.

Iserbyt is now used to Van der Poel and Van Aert being added at some point. For Iserbyt it simply comes down to winning as much as possible before they start again.
