Iserbyt reveals: are Van Aert and Van der Poel a threat or a blessing for cyclo-cross?

No Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel in the field yet, so Eli Iserbyt is mainly being looked at. However, he does not see the Big Two as a threat.

It is not yet certain where and when Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel will return to the field. It is expected that it will again not be until December, just when the new World Cup starts.

The UCI crammed the twelve rounds of the World Cup into just two months to get Van Aert and Van der Poel at the start as much as possible. The question, however, is whether the cyclo-cross World Cup keeps him awake at night.

Iserbyt about Van Aert and Van der Poel

Eli Iserbyt, winner of the World Cup last season, does not see Van der Poel and Van Aert as a threat. “Unfair competition? That doesn’t exist in cross country,” he says The Newspaper. He welcomes Van Aert and Van der Poel with open arms in the cross.

“Wout and Mathieu are a blessing for our sport. They provide exposure, sponsors and the public are enthusiastic about cross-country thanks to them. They still have their place in our peloton, for me they can continue to combine road and field for a few more years. “

Iserbyt is now used to Van der Poel and Van Aert being added at some point. For Iserbyt it simply comes down to winning as much as possible before they start again.
