One hundred and nineteen incidents during the tributes paid Monday to teachers Samuel Paty and Dominique Bernard in middle and high schools were recorded on Wednesday by the Ministry of National Education, declared the Minister of Education, Anne Genetet, Thursday October 17 , specifying that “it was a little over 280 last year at the same time”. A previous report from the ministry reported on Tuesday seventy-eight “disruptions and protests”.

According to the minister, the « incidents » cover “from simple heckling to unacceptable behavior, with comments that are a form of apology for terrorism”. Et “each of these incidents will give rise to a disciplinary sanction and, for the most serious cases, a report to the public prosecutor”added Mme Genetet, in the morning of TF1.

A minute of silence was observed in middle and high schools in in memory of the two teachers murdered by radicalized Islamists. The Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, went Monday afternoon to the d’Aulne college, in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (), where Samuel Paty taught.

More than 600 sanctions in 2023

Last year, 605 sanctions, including 85 permanent exclusions from the school, were pronounced during disciplinary councils, after the incidents which punctuated the tributes to the two teachers. There were 454 exclusions in total, including 85 permanent exclusions from the establishment, 322 temporary and 47 permanent suspended exclusions.

Samuel Paty, aged 47, was stabbed then beheaded by Abdoullakh Anzorov, a Russian refugee of Chechen origin, on October 16, 2020, near his college. The young man aged 18, a radicalized Muslim, accused him of having shown caricatures of Mohammed in class. The emotion aroused by this attack was reignited by the assassination, on October 13, 2023, of Dominique Bernard, 57, stabbed to death by Mohammed Mogouchkov, a former student registered for Islamist radicalization, in front of his establishment in .
