Algeria Football – Despite the large victory of the Algerian team against Togo 5 goals to 1, a huge gap persists and worries Vladimir Petkovic.
The Algerian national team certainly triumphed brilliantly against Togo (5-1) in qualifying for the African Cup of Nations (CAN), but this victory revealed notable shortcomings, particularly in terms of defensive. Despite the flattering score, the Fennecs’ performance in this area left something to be desired.
Throughout the match, the Togolese attackers showed a worrying ease in penetrating the Algerian defense, regularly endangering Alexis Guendouz’s goal. Goalkeeper Alexis Guendouz stood out on several occasions, saving his team from two almost inevitable goals. Without his decisive intervention, the end result could have been very different. This offensive success should not overshadow these defensive shortcomings, because facing more opportunistic teams, Algeria could encounter major difficulties. For the next deadlines, Vladimir Petkovic will have to correct these flaws to maintain the high ambitions of the Fennecs in the race for CAN 2025.
