The phenomenon which lit up the Aude sky on the night of Thursday October 10 to Friday October 11 was immortalized by numerous photographers. Here are the most beautiful photos that readers of L’Indépendant sent to the editorial staff.
It is an exceptional event which took place on the night of Thursday October 10 to Friday October 11 in the sky over the four corners of France and therefore in Aude.
Many of you have immortalized, whether on the coast or inland, this remarkable atmospheric episode, with these colorful sails of the night sky, exceptionally visible in France.
This phenomenon is the consequence of the collision between electrically charged particles emitted by the sun and the earth’s atmosphere. They are regularly visible in the regions of Antarctica and the poles but in the case of intense solar activity, what is called the auroral arc extends over territories more or less close to the Equator.
A light show visible in Gruissan where the reflection with the ponds allowed fans to capture magnificent landscapes. This is the case for Nelly with a shot at 9 p.m.
In Malves, near Carcassonne, Léo Camus immortalized this moment at 1:12 a.m. with this exceptional glimpse of the Northern Lights here around the menhir. Indeed fabulous!

In Salles d’Aude, Romane photographed the sky at 12:10 a.m. with a visual spectacle combining nature, the stars and the Northern Lights.
Still in eastern Aude, Viktorine Lavoipierre captured this same moment.
Same phenomenon and same wonder in the Baliste district in Narbonne with Emilie Ponsa’s shots at 8:30 p.m. then at 11 p.m.
The Northern Lights were also visible from Cuxac-d’Aude.
Around 11:30 p.m., Barbara photographed the sky at Nissan-lez-Ensérune on the border of Aude and Hérault. There too, the spectacle offered by the sky is grandiose.
In Villedaigne, between Narbonne and Lézignan, the red of the sky was particularly intense.
