The 24 countries which will take part in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco in 2025, will be made official after qualifying for the final phase on Tuesday, November 19.
The countdown has begun. Only a few days left to find out the last qualifiers for CAN Morocco 2025. With seven teams already qualified to travel to Morocco, the last places for next year’s finals will be allocated during the last two qualifying days, scheduled for 13 to November 16 (day 5) and from November 17 to 19 (day 6). Among the 52 nations that began qualifying, Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, DR Congo, Egypt and Senegal have so far secured their ticket to the most prestigious African Cup.
Morocco had an ideal run by winning its four matches, having conceded only one goal. They want to continue this momentum this Friday against Gabon, who ranks second in the group. The Central African Republic will be looking to achieve a second consecutive victory against Lesotho, after largely dominating their last match. This duel is essential for the RCA with a view to qualifying.
The match against Gabon will take place at the Angondjé stadium. The national Football team arrived Wednesday evening in Franceville. On arrival at M’Vengue El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba airport, the delegation of the national team was welcomed by the Moroccan ambassador to Gabon, Abdellah Sbihi, in the presence of members of the Gabonese Football Federation , as well as members of the Kingdom’s embassy.
For the last two days of the CAN qualifiers, national coach Walid Regragui called on 26 players. During a press conference, the coach clearly stressed that competition is tough between players to be part of the national football team.
“There is competition between the players we have available and the tougher the competition, the more choices I have, as a coach, to have the most exemplary squad possible,” he rejoiced. .
“The national team grew, with a great squad, and we became the football nation we wanted. We have been in the Top 13 in the world for 2 years and it is a strong point which attracts talented players,” added the national coach. Regarding the preparation for CAN-2025, the coach stressed that the national team has a few matches left to refine the work, noting that “the important thing for us is to be ready during the CAN, at home, because we have a duty to achieve results and to be at a good level.”
Regarding the absence of Hakim Ziyech, Regragui noted that “Ziyech has almost two months without competition. He has to work with his team and from the moment he reaches his level, he will be with us.
Returning to the call-up of Adam Masina, the national coach explained that he wanted to see the evolution of the Torino player who changed position to become a central defender. “We are in a progression of work and we can see other profiles joining the national team,” he added.
Everything suggests that the national team will return home with a new victory which will extend its unbeaten streak. Remember that CAN Morocco 2025 will celebrate its 35th edition between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026.
