A few weeks before Christmas, these are the kind of events that hurt. On the night of Wednesday November 13 to Thursday November 14, a warehouse of the nurseryman Naudet was completely destroyed by fire. If most Christmas trees were not affected, the loss would amount to more than a million euros.

In one night, everything disappeared. The warehouse of the nurseryman Naudet in Planchez (Nièvre) was ravaged by flames on Thursday, November 14, around 3 a.m.
From this site, specializing in Morvan Christmas trees, only ashes and charred objects remained in the morning. A few weeks before the holidays, this is a very hard blow to the company. The harm”certainly exceeds a million euros” and could even reach two million, according to Frédéric Naudet, the general director.
The Christmas tree season is already well underway. Most French people will soon embark on the traditional purchase of a tree. Undoubtedly, this fire comes at a bad time. Very bad even. “It was clearly the wrong time for such a disaster”sighs Frédéric Naudet.

However, the leading producer of Christmas trees in France wants to be reassuring about the activity: “Fortunately, this only concerns a building with equipment and consumables. It remains very restrictive, we will have to make up for what we have lost and continue to work. But we are not going to feel sorry for ourselves, in fact on Thursday morning, while the fire was still burning, we loaded the trucks. We intend to deliver to all the customers.”
Indeed, apart from a few pallets, the trees or “the heart of the business” of Frédéric Naudet and his teams, were not affected.
The 1,300 square meter building simply disappeared, devoured by the furnace. For now, the origin of the flames remains unknown. A gendarmerie investigation is underway to determine the causes.
For Frédéric Naudet, the timing and sudden departure in the middle of the night leave little room for doubt: “This is just me, but I'm pretty convinced it was arson. It's very strange that a fire would break out here in the middle of the night, other than to cause harm at a key moment of the year for us but I trust the gendarmerie to shed light on this incident.
