The Volkswagen Tayron has the same MQB evo platform as the Tiguan but its wheelbase is longer (~4.8 meters) and it can accommodate between 5 and 7 people. Its interior is supposed to offerthe best comfort in its categoryin its class with 3-zone climate control, 10-color ambient lighting and ArtVelours Eco microfiber upholstery.

The Tayron is also the latest SUV to feature a VW lighting system front and rear. It also comes standard with adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, park assist and pedestrian and cyclist-based brake assist, although IQ .LIGHT is not yet available IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights and App-Connect Wireless for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto are additional options, as is the ChatGPT-based voice assistant IDA.

The car was launched on the European market with a choice of 150 kilowatt (kW, or ~204 horsepower (HP)) or 200kW (272 HP) front-wheel drive eHybrid both boasting a range of over 100 km thanks to their 19.7 kWh battery and a charging capacity of 1.5 million euros charge up to 11 kW or 50 kW in alternating or direct current respectively.

Additionally, the top-of-the-range 142 kW (193 HP) 4MOTION TDI (diesel) variant can tow up to 2,500 kg (2.5 tonnes) with trailer support and trailer assistance. .

However, Volkswagen is keeping these variants in reserve and has so far only marketed the Tayron in a mild hybrid (110 kW) eTSI version starting at €45,475 (~$49,800).
