HBO explores Peter Todd track

The film uses circumstantial evidence, such as posts on Bitcoin forums, to support this hypothesis. However, Todd strongly rejected the idea, calling it “ridiculous.” While this theory is intriguing, many in the Bitcoin community consider the evidence too weak to be taken seriously, and Nakamoto’s identity remains unresolved.

The film makes several arguments based on temporal coincidences and Todd’s activity on Bitcoin forums at key times when Nakamoto was disappearing from discussions. In particular, director Cullen Hoback relies on analysis of online discussions and clues related to internet use at the time to suggest that Todd could be Nakamoto.

When the documentary accuses him of being Nakamoto, Todd responds jokingly, while firmly rejecting the theory. In a public statement, he called the claims “ludicrous” and said, “I am not Satoshi.” Although his work in the field of Bitcoin is recognized, he maintains that he was never involved in the creation of the famous cryptocurrency.

Despite the controversy generated by the documentary, much of the Bitcoin community has rejected the idea that Todd is Nakamoto. Critics point out that Todd, while a significant contributor, was not central enough in the early years of Bitcoin’s development to be its initiator. Others add that the evidence presented is based only on coincidences and lacks solid foundation.

The mystery of Satoshi Nakamoto continues to fuel speculation and intrigues many cryptocurrency enthusiasts. The HBO documentary did not provide definitive answers, but it once again reignites the debate around Nakamoto’s identity.
