After a few months of vacation following the end of his adventure on the Liverpool bench, German coach Jürgen Klopp will return to service in 2025. The technician was appointed on Wednesday director of football activities at Red Bull, the Austrian energy drink company which owns three clubs in Leipzig, Salzburg and New York.

Aged 57, the German coach will take up his duties on 1is January 2025, according to the company press release. According to the firm, Jürgen Klopp, who restored glory to Liverpool during his nine years on the bench, winning the Premier League and the Champions League, will not “get involved in the daily life of the clubs” of the Red Bull galaxy but will instead be responsible for the “strategic” vision.

A clause to join the German selection?

“After some 25 years on the sidelines, I could not be more motivated than by such a project,” responded Klopp, quoted in the press release. “Above all, I see my role as an advisor to the coaches and management of Red Bull clubs.”

This summer, the German ruled out coaching again in the near future. According to Sky Germany, Klopp’s contract with Red Bull, however, contains a departure clause if he has the opportunity to become Germany coach. In Europe, without being among the very big names in football, the clubs of Salzburg (Austria), home of the multinational, and Leipzig (Germany), compete in the prestigious Champions League.

In the United States, New York is involved in MLS, the North American championship where various stars nearing the end of their careers have signed in recent years, such as the Argentinian Léo Messi (in Miami).
