Djokovic is “fresh” and advances

“the advantage of not playing a lot of tournaments is that you are fresh”

Novak Djokovic at press conference

Unlike his main competitors, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the Serbian is only just beginning his Asian tour. The two young world number ones even faced off in an epic duel last week in the final of the ATP 500 in Beijing. ‘Nole’ sees this as an advantage, this is what he declared at a press conference.

“I feel good. I think the advantage of not playing a lot of tournaments is that you are fresh. I don’t mind playing long matches every day. I recovered well and, as you said, a few days without a match are good for the body.”

“It may not be ideal (from having too many days off in the middle of a tournament, editor’s note.) you don’t want to take too long breaks when you’re already in the tournament because of the game and the way the racket feels in your hands. But I’m happy with how I bounced back from that tough second-round win. I can’t wait for tomorrow (Wednesday), I feel good about my game and in my skin”

On Wednesday, the Serbian will face Roman Safiullin, winner in the pain of a nervous Frances Tiafoe. Novak Djokovic has never lost a set against the Russian.
