After explaining why, in his opinion, Novak Djokovic still had the weapons and assets to compete with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, Daniel Evans, current 160e world player and close to Andy Murray, returned to the reasons which pushed the Serbian player to choose his illustrious compatriot as coach.
“Like everyone, I was delighted to learn that Andy Murray was going to coach Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open. It makes sense to Andy: three weeks during the Australian summer, while the climate here is not conducive to golf! As for Novak, he's not stupid, he didn't pick him just to grab headlines – Andy will be a great coach. Talking to Andy about the game is totally different from talking to anyone else: his level of tactical insight and his attitude. I remember before a Davis Cup match, a few of us were talking about the match and we said, 'Yeah, Andy is going to beat that guy.' Andy caught wind of this and wasn't happy. He said, 'No, this guy is dangerous and this is how he can beat me,' and then he broke down his opponent's game. He will demonstrate this level of analysis against each of Novak's opponents.”Evans said in a column for the Daily Mail.
