Eliminated Friday in the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 in Paris, a defeat which ended his season, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas judged that his year 2024 had “certainly” not been “exceptional”.
“I don’t think I can call 2024 an exceptional year, certainly not”confided the 11th player in the world after his defeat against the German Alexander Zverev (3rd).
Winner of eleven tournaments on the ATP circuit (including the Masters in 2019 and the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo in 2021, 2022 and 2024), Tsitsipas had a season far from his usual standards.
Aged 26, the Greek did not manage to get past the quarter-final stage of the Grand Slam in 2024 and was even eliminated as soon as he entered the US Open.
Winner of the only Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo in 2024, Tsitsipas, ex-3rd in the world, “will try to concentrate on performance” in 2025.
A concept “which did not catch the eye” in his game in 2024, he admitted.
More “I have a good team at my side and I think we are heading in the right direction. I just need to work in the off-season”.
“I just want to have a solid year in 2025, a year that I can look back on and tell myself that I am proud of myself, that I made the most of it”continued the Greek.
“I just have to be a little patient because I won’t see the results (of his efforts, editor’s note) immediately, it will take a few months”.
