Six Kings Slam | Novak Djokovic offers one last victory against Rafael Nadal

It’s a meeting, a final one, that we won’t find in the history books. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal crossed swords one last time, as part of the very lucrative Six Kings Slam, this Saturday. The Serbian won (6-2, 7-6) even if this exhibition game, still marked by a few exchanges which reeked of the past, will not change the balance sheet between the two men (31 victories for “Djoko”, 29 for “Rafa”).

This last meeting between the two legends of their sport almost came to an end. On the one hand, Novak Djokovic has found a very consistent level in recent weeks, even reaching the final of the Masters 1000 in Shanghai. On the other hand, Rafael Nadal moved away from his best level before signaling the end of his career after the Davis Cup in November. This gap resulted in total control of the “Djoker” in the first round.

It could have extended in the second if Nadal, with his pride, had not had the good idea to unbreak instantly after having given up his serve at the start of the second act. After a pleasant end to the match, where the two men brought the audience to their feet – particularly after a long forehand, at the end of the line, from the Spaniard – Djokovic ended up having the last word. One last time.
