The communication ofUbisoft aroundAssassin’s Creed Shadows was already following a frantic pace. But in recent days, the company has gone out of its way to flood us with new information. In just a few hours, we were treated to official presentations of the game’s first free expansion and the strange Animus Hub. But that’s not all. These two pieces of information almost managed to eclipse a third: the release of Story Trailer of Shadows. Unsurprisingly, this is the opportunity to discover a little more about the two protagonists of this new opus, namely the furtive Naoe and the imposing Yasuke.
The first seems deeply traumatized by the events of the past, particularly those linked to her father, Fujibayashi Nagato. We know that it was he who introduced him to the techniques of shinobi and the Iga school. Naoe lived a peaceful existence at his side, until the daimyo Oda Nobunaga took the path of unifying Japan. This is how the lands of Naoe will be violently invaded, leaving the young woman alone with a promise that seems impossible to keep.
For Yasuke, his story begins on the enemy’s side. The former slave finally served the daimyo. But despite his great qualities in combat, he was never really recognized for his true value. For most of his peers, he is and will remain a stranger. Faithful to his code of honor, he will gradually learn to stop letting himself be guided by the wind, while the latter announces a bloody future full of betrayals.
These two completely opposite destinies will find themselves linked by something that we still don’t know. If we already know that the Assassins’ blade was given to Naoe by his father, we do not know why Yasuke recognizes it when he confronts the shinobi. Still, these two former enemies will become allies to serve the same cause. “From the shadows comes justice”the trailer tells us. And from big differences sometimes comes impressive complementarity, as we saw during our preview.
