After months of waiting, it seems that the Switch 2 is closer than ever to an official release from Nintendo. At the start of the week, several sources mentioned an announcement on January 16, 2025 and, since then, other rumors and rumors in the corridors have further heated up the sauce on the subject.

First of all, in terms of timing, it seems that small clues have been scattered about X in recent hours. Walmart, the huge American hypermarket chain, has in fact published an innocent-looking tweet, but which hides references to the future marketing of the console.

Wink after wink

As noted Forbesthe Walmart Canada Gaming account published an image of a Mario mascot soberly captioned “ Hey Mario“. If the tweet itself may leave you wondering, it takes on an even more intriguing character when you know that exactly the same image was used in 2016 to unveil the very first trailer for the first Switch of the name.

As a nod to the announcement of the previous console, this tweet is all the more significant as Walmart Canada has a bad habit of often spoiling major video game announcements. In 2018, the brand notably announced a whole bunch of Bethesda games a little too early.

To fuel the hype a little, Nintendo of America also made a little tweet on the same day. Above a short video taken from Super Mario Party Jamboreethe brand’s account innocently wrote “ Drinking the milk, spilling the tea ”, which could be literally translated as “Drink the milk, spill the tea». More “spilling the tea» figuratively also means revealing secrets or spilling the beans. So it's likely that Nintendo gave Walmart a nod.

3 teraFLOPS for Switch 2?

Beyond this marketing bluster, more technical details have still emerged on the future Switch 2. An Internet user often well informed about Nintendo's plans posted information on the Famiboards forum on the graphics card that could equip the console.

According toThe Game Postthe console could reach 1.72 teraFLOPS in portable mode and 3.09 teraflops attached to its dock. This is much more than the first Switch of the name which was limited to 0.5 TFLOPS and even more than the Steam Deck which goes up to 1.6 TFLOPS.

Finally, speculations ofGameRantaround a mystery button also suggest that the Switch 2 would be equipped with a chat functionality nicknamed “Campus”. The latter would let players chat with each other during a gaming session. A theory to be taken with a pinch of salt as Nintendo is reserved about the unbridled exchange features on its platform.
