Asus would have liked to call it the ZenBook Air, but fearing legal retaliation from Apple, the Taiwanese settled for ZenBook A14. Under this name is actually the first ZenBook truly designed for Qualcomm's ARM processor.

The ZenBook A14 is also the first ZenBook designed entirely in Ceraluminium. Behind the marketing name is actually an aluminum ceramization treatment. Asus is using this treatment for the first time on the entire chassis, from the cover to the palm rest and the lower shell. Previously, the manufacturer was content to treat only the cover to avoid fingerprints and improve the aluminum's resistance to attacks.
A real featherweight
The main advantage of the ZenBook A14 lies elsewhere in its weight, since it only weighs 980 g on the scale. We saw it during the test of the Honor MagicBook Art 14, it's a real pleasure to use such a light laptop PC when traveling.
To obtain such weight, Asus relies on a newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon Remember that the Snapdragon is an SoC and integrates a large part of the necessary components, reducing the size of the motherboard and thus the weight of the components.
An OLED panel
The ZenBook A14 does not ignore the screen since, as a good promoter of OLED screens, Asus has obviously included a panel of this technology. However, in order to maintain a competitive price, Asus has made some compromises on the definition and refresh rate. You must therefore make do with an OLED panel displaying 1920 x 1200 pixels at 60 Hz.
The Taiwanese manufacturer has not compromised on connectivity since the ZenBook A14 has a USB A port, two USB-C ports, an HDMI port and a jack socket. As for the wireless part, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are there.
A contained price
The ZenBook A14 should be quickly available from 999 euros in its Snapdragon X configuration accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. It is very likely that Asus will offer other configurations incorporating the Snapdragon X Elite in the future with a price adjusted accordingly.
We were able to take the ZenBook A14 in hand at CES and we can't wait to see it arrive at our premises for an in-depth test. Let's hope that the Snapdragon X is not too neutered in order to benefit from a real 2.0 typewriter.
