We wonder where Dell went for his inspiration. The computer manufacturer has in fact decided to completely shake up its family of laptop and desktop computers by taking inspiration from… the iPhone.
XPS, Inspiron, Latitude: these brands that Dell spent years selling to the general public and businesses are now forgotten. At CES, the manufacturer threw all that in the basket and inaugurated three new categories of computers: Dell, Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max!
A little apple feel for these PCs
Have you ever seen this anywhere? Like any Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Dell looked over the shoulder of Apple and the iPhone for these new designations, which at least have the merit of clarity. Dell computers are for the general public and schools, Dell Pro computers are intended for professional users, Dell Pro Max computers target those needing maximum performance.
For the moment, the distinction is quite clear, but as soon as we go into a little detail, it becomes much more complicated. Each of the laptop families includes three performance levels: Base, Plus and Premium. Which means that we can afford a “Dell Pro Max Plus”, for example. It's a shame that Dell didn't take the opportunity to create an “Air” sub-category.
For desktop computers, there are also distinctions: Small, All-in-One and Tower for the Dell and Pro Max models, with the addition of Micro for the Dell Pro. For the rest, it is really a marketing exercise because although the technical sheets have been refreshed with the latest fashionable components, there is not really a big change in design or functionality.
