Black Ops 6: a major problem with the weapons plans, the controversy is growing on the networks | Xbox

Since the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the Treyarch franchise has faced a new controversy that has ignited the gaming community. At the heart of the debate, a problem linked to weapon blueprints, these personalized variants of weapons that players can acquire via premium packs or seasonal content. According to many users, some of these plans block or alter aim, creating quite glaring disadvantages in the middle of combat.

Weapon designs that just don’t work in-game

For many, the problem is especially present in competitive multiplayer modes, where every fraction of a second counts when facing an opponent. Multiple players have reported that some weapon blueprints, available only through microtransactions or the Battle Pass, feature designs that directly interfere with the field of view when using sights.

Some also noted that fixed attachments imposed by these blueprints made the weapons less accurate or were simply unusable in certain situations.

Several examples are criticized on the networks and clearly show a fairly obvious design problem by Treyarch. On Reddit, many players are complaining about these weapon plans which are useless if the aim is unusable. Some laugh about it, but others criticize developers who create unplayable weapon skins, such as the Mecha-Drake weapon blueprint.

A controversy that highlights microtransactions and AI

Beyond the simple functional aspect, the controversy raises a broader question: that of the commercial practices surrounding microtransactions in Black Ops 6. Some players accuse Treyarch and Activision of neglecting the balancing of weapon blueprints in favor of an increase income. For them, these plans are just a way to encourage players to buy more, even if the designs are poorly thought out or not tested in real situations.

Some believe that the design of these weapons was simply created by AI, and never tested by the developers. A controversy which joins that of the strange images of zombies with 6 fingers and other images used in Black Ops 6 which seem to have been managed by AI.

This controversy could have broader consequences for the Call of Duty license. With a community of players increasingly critical of business practices, gameplay balancing and the fight against cheating deemed far too weak, Treyarch and Activision will have to redouble their efforts to restore trust.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 as well as PC via Steam, the Windows Store and Battle.net. The title integrated Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from its launch, as well as PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
