CES 2025 – Circular’s Ring 2 features an ECG function

Present every year at CES, Circular is traveling to Las Vegas this year with something new. The French firm, specialist in connected rings, is in fact formalizing a brand new model called Ring 2. This is not its second ring, since a Ring Slim designed to ensure maximum finesse, also appears in its catalog, but it is a turning point in the world of connected rings.

The main new feature of the Ring 2 is its sensors. Because unlike the rings currently available, generally equipped with heart rate monitors and temperature sensors, it offers an ECG function available without a specific subscription. Like many connected watches, the Circular ring claims to be capable of detecting various heart problems, and has also been certified by the American FDA (Food and Drug Administration), which validated its ability to detect atrial fibrillation. The integration of such sensors is not without consequences: first, the ring is a little more massive than the Ring Slim, and weighs 5 grams (compared to the 2 g of its predecessor). It also loses the haptic vibration motor, the space available within the Ring 2 not allowing it to integrate a vibrator and the sensors necessary for ECG measurements.

New tools for choosing the right ring size

Circular aims to be reassuring on an essential criterion: autonomy. When its Ring Slim announces six days of endurance in eco mode, the Ring 2 is supposed to last up to 8 days, still in eco mode, and four in standard mode. Finally, we note that, to simplify the purchase for its customers, Circular is launching a finger measurement system using a simple smartphone camera, to determine the necessary size without the need to use a ring sizer.

For now, the Ring 2 is announced at CES, but not marketed. Circular aims to sell its new ring between February and March 2025, at a price for the hour set at $380 which will have to be converted into euros by its launch in . A crowdfunding campaign dedicated to the device will be launched during the month of January. It is quite possible that its competitors will multiply by the time it goes on sale; It is rumored that Samsung plans to show its Galaxy Ring 2 during its Unpacked event, expected at the end of this month.
