At CES 2025, LG presented its new televisions belonging to the C5, G5 and M5 series. They logically succeed the C4, G4 and M4. These new models feature a White-OLED panel manufactured by LG Display. This is a new generation, but without the MLA filter that could be found in the G4 and M4 series. These televisions therefore feature a panel that uses several layers without us yet knowing the exact details of this technology which the brand announces, despite everything as being brighter than the previous one.

The M5 series represents the very high end. It is available in 65, 77, 83 and 97 inches diagonally. It has a panel strictly identical to that of the G5 series, but with the “zero connect” wireless box allowing all connections and electronics to be remote, as on the previous M4 series. This technology transfers audio and video signals and supports VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium, Nvidia G-Sync standards and particularly high refresh rates, useful for video games. The “zero connect” box can now be enclosed in furniture thanks to a more powerful and more stable signal than the previous version

It is based on the Alpha 11 image processing processor from 2e generation. This series of televisions can count on an upscaling function driven by artificial intelligence, called AI Picture Pro. The anti-reflective treatment is far from being as advanced as the Samsung S95D series, which has become the benchmark in this area.

It therefore uses a White-OLED panel with Brightness Booster Ultimate technology which LG claims to be brighter than the previous one (except for the 97-inch size similar to the brightness of the G4).

G5 Series with Brightness Booster Ultimate and Less Bright C5

The LG G5 series uses the same panel with the Brightness Booster Ultimate, the same image processing processor. The connectors and electronics are positioned at the back of the device.

It is available in 48, 55, 65, 77, 83 and 97 inches. They support Nvidia G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium gaming technologies and are compatible with the 165 Hz refresh rate.

The C5 series, for its part, uses a less bright panel than the G5 and M5 series with Brightness Booster technology. It features the Alpha 9 image processing processor from 8e generation.

It is available in 42 and 48 inches, offering a lower peak brightness than 55, 65, 77 and 83 inches. If they support AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync technologies, it can go up to 144 Hz. Again, like the G5 series connectors, these are installed at the rear of the panel.

The foot is extremely similar to that of previous series as illustrated in the photo below.

A new remote control in 2025

The C5, G5 and M5 series have in common the arrival of a new remote control. Operating with two batteries, it offers a more refined design than the previous ones. Unfortunately, there is still no question of backlighting, which we always regret a little. It offers the same gyroscope system which allows you to easily control the webOS system and navigate through the menus by pointing to the options displayed on the screen.

A key is dedicated to artificial intelligence functions, not available in at the moment. Another offers the assistance display. This 2025 remote control has two rocker buttons, like the remote controls from Samsung and Philips which allow you to manage the volume and change channels. Several keys are dedicated to streaming platforms, including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, LG Channels, Alexa.

webOS 2025 on board

The webOS system continues to power LG televisions in the 2025 version, this time. The interface does not change. What is new is the possibility of interacting with artificial intelligence functionalities, but which will not be available in France, at least for the moment. Among these, search capabilities both in programs and on the Internet, via Microsoft Copilot, for the latter.

Also note the possibility of creating wallpapers generated by artificial intelligence and recommended content, according to the user’s habits. In addition, the system is capable of recognizing several different voices, thus adapting the personalized webOS interface to each member of the family.

LG TVs from 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021 will be able to benefit from webOS 25 via an update which will be deployed later in the year.

Availability and prices of LG C5, G5 and M5 TV series

For the moment, LG has not communicated any availability dates or prices for the different sizes of televisions, whether for the C5, G5 or M5 series. This information will be known later in the year.
