At the head of Thalia theater de Moret, which they created 20 years ago, Catherine Genest et Hervé Letoret have just handed over to Jordan Chenoz et Stéphane Tisserant. Originally from the region and residents of Melun for 10 years, the new managers wish to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors by offering a clever mix of comedies, one-man shows, conferences and concerts: “I have been an actor for 10 years and I have always wanted to open a place like Thalie, says Jordan Chenoz. I knew the place and when meeting a friend at Festival d’AvignonI learned that the establishment was for sale! »
Boon, Dujardin or Debbouze
The city’s famous café-theater occupies a building of 250 m2 and takes its name from the muse of comedy in Greek mythology. Catherine and Hervé created it after launching the shows of Talenscope, in 1991.
“For two decades, approximately 5,000 curtain openings occurred there, specifies its founders. The Thalie theater has seen the debut or performance of great artists like Dany Boon, Chantal Ladesou, Jean Dujardin, Jamel Debbouze, as well as Olivier de Benoist, faithful among the faithful, Manu Payet and Anne Roumanoff. »
Without forgetting the young beginners presented by Paul Ledermanproducer of live shows having launched the careers of very big stars such as Claude François, Thierry Le Luron, Coluche and Les Inconnus.
Return of children’s shows
In the anecdotes section, Catherine and Hervé remember small dramatic incidents. Like the stage manager who leaves the theater two minutes before the curtain rises, because his barge was sinking. Or again, a water leak coming from the roof, in the middle of a Haricots Rouges concert, passionate and mischievous musicians who revisited the jazz of New Orleans.
For the period 2024-2026, the programming of the Thalie-théâtre will see the resumption of children’s shows, which had been stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
