Our 2024 ambassadors – The Haute Côte-

Each year, personalities from the Haute-Côte- stand out at the regional, provincial and international levels. They represent our community with their talent, their project or even their involvement and allow us to shine brightly. Here are our ambassadors for 2024.

CULTURAL SPHERE

Erika Soucy

The artist from Portneuf-sur-Mer gives an important place to his native environment in his projects. In 2024, his series written solo, The Pearlswas a big enough hit on illico+ for it to be broadcast on our screens on TVA at prime time. The actress and author has not only put the Haute-Côte-Nord on the map with his talent. She also insisted on filming the images for her series in and around Portneuf-sur-Mer. Even though regional filming costs more, it was important for Erika to see the North Shore on screen. The thousands of spectators from Quebec were therefore able to appreciate our landscapes and our nature by watching The Pearls. A pride for Portneuvoise and for the entire community!

ECONOMIC SPHERE

The Boisaco Group

The year 2024 has proven to be an eventful year for Groupe Boisaco de Sacré-Cœur. The forest cooperative spared no effort to prevent the imposition of an emergency decree for the protection of forest caribou. In addition to sending several letters to the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, the company organized a mobilization which brought together a convoy of more than 150 vehicles on Principale Street in Sacré-Cœur in September. The objective: to make the voices of humans heard for whom the decree would be catastrophic, according to the organization. With all these pressure tactics, the Boisaco Group was able to make itself heard as far away as Ottawa. Note that it also celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024. In the photo, we see President Steeve St-Gelais.

EDUCATIONAL SPHERE

Sébastien Simard

Originally from Sacré-Cœur, he is one of the researchers who appears in the top 2% of the most cited scientists in the world in 2023, according to the list published in September by Stanford University. Professor of psychology at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi (UQAC), Mr. Simard is recognized for his work on the fear of recurrence among people with cancer. His studies are therefore consulted almost everywhere on the planet, which makes him a good ambassador for the Haute-Côte-Nord. The teacher continues his research in the field of psycho-oncology and he is not about to stop surprising us.
