What if you could control your iPhone with just your voice, without even having to touch the screen? With iOS 18, Apple introduced Voice Shortcuts, a handy feature that automates your actions with just one word. And here’s how to activate it in just a few steps.
With iOS 18, Apple has not only improved its existing features but also introduced new ways to interact with your iPhone. One of these new features is the possibility of programming and automating actions via voice shortcuts. This feature is ideal for users who want to simplify their daily lives by controlling their device without needing to touch the screen.
Whether you’re already used to using Siri or you’re discovering this option for the first time, here’s how to configure and use voice shortcuts to automate actions on your iPhone!
To use this new feature, there are just a few quick and easy steps to follow, here they are.
- Open the app Settings on your iPhone. Go to Accessibility Then Voice shortcutsthis is where you can start personalizing your voice actions.
- Select Configure voice shortcuts to start.
- Choose the action you want to activate with your voice. It may be take a screenshot, activate the flashlight, open control centerand many other actions.
- After choosing the action, record a custom phrase that will trigger that action. For example, to take a screenshotyou could say screenshot as in our example.
- All you have to do is say the sentence three times in a row to teach your iPhone to recognize your voice.
Once configured, your iPhone is ready to be controlled by your voice. So to use a voice shortcut, all you have to do is say the phrase you recorded.
And if you want to delete a voice shortcut: return to the voice shortcuts settings, press Modifier at the top right, then on the icon – next to the name of the shortcut you want to disable.
