No announcements, no noise, but a seventh turquoise blue color for the half-sister of Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms.
It’s a well-known fact that at Swatch we love surprises. Whether it’s launching a new product in complete secrecy, or revealing without saying anything about it a new incarnation of one of its current watchmaking stars. This time, it is not a new MoonSwatch, but a Blancpain X Swatch paying homage to Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms, in a very Saint Barth’ color.
Its 42.3 mm case and crown are this time in turquoise blue bioceramic, as is its dial with a sunbrushed finish, with a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The indexes, hour and minute hands, the end of the seconds hand, as well as the scale on the bezel, are coated with Super-LumiNova grade A for perfect readability in the dark.
This seventh version of the Blancpain X Swatch has a unidirectional dark blue bioceramic bezel and bio-sourced glass. Its SISTEM51 mechanical movement is visible through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback and includes a digitally printed illustration of a lagoon and the Tambja Mullineri nudibranch. Finally, five inscriptions appear on the back of this watch: Passion for diving – License to explore – Ocean breath – Protect what you love and Immerse yourself.
Fans will appreciate a detail that is not one: its NATO-style bracelet in two parts, and no longer just one, thinner and more elegant, and still made from recycled fishing nets. This watch is water-resistant to 91 meters and offers a power reserve of 90 hours. Count on €400 to treat yourself to the latest incarnation of one of the cheapest automatic diving watches on the market.
