Recently launched, the Beats Solo 4 Bluetooth headphones excel in their autonomy and the quality of their manufacturing. Yes, it also has flaws, but they are much easier to accept when the price of the headset is lower than usual, like currently on Amazon: the platform is currently offering it at 139.99 euros instead of 229 .95 euros.
Beats, a brand acquired in 2014 by Apple, recently updated its benchmark Bluetooth headset, the Solo, and offered a fourth version which stands out in particular for its excellent battery life. During our test, we still spotted several flaws that tarnished its rating, but these concessions are much more acceptable when the price of the headset decreases. And that’s good, the Beats Solo 4 is currently 39% off.

A well-made helmet
Discover Audio-Technica’s legendary sound signature
Our opinion: “It’s hard not to like the restitution of the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 headphones! The Japanese manufacturer delivers headphones that should delight many ears. Hat.”
The Beats Solo 4 strongly resembles its predecessor with its plastic headband which folds thanks to two hinges and its rubber which covers its lower part. This headset is over-ear, meaning that the ears sit on top of the ears without encompassing them. Moreover, each earpiece has a small flexibility of around 5° for better adaptation to the user’s body shape. Unfortunately, if the helmet is light (220 g), it can generate quite significant pressure on the top of the head depending on the users. We take comfort in its excellent support on the skull, including during sporting activities. We also salute its exemplary finishes and elegant design.
On the software side, the Beats Solo 4 is perfectly well integrated into the Apple environment, so much so that you even have the impression of owning real headphones from the Apple brand. Users of iOS, macOS, watchOS and iPadOS will notably have access to multiple connections allowing them to switch from one device to another. Using your headset on a Mac then taking a call on your iPhone is, for example, fluid. The Spatial Audio function, which offers to adapt the stereo rendering depending on the position of the head, is also available on iOS and iPadOS and even works just as well as with AirPods Max.
Rare autonomy on the audio market
The Beats Solo 4 headphones can use the Bluetooth 5.3 standard and promise very low to no latency. In game, the sound and image lag is imperceptible. And to listen to music, you will need more than 30 meters before the first signs of disturbance are heard. On the audio side, while the Beats signature was previously very focused on the bass, the Beats Solo 4 on the contrary offers fairly recessed bass. If you don’t use an equalizer, however, the most energetic pieces could suffer and lack generosity. Concerning the treble, these are unfortunately not very precise. Fortunately, the Beats Solo 4 does not lack dynamics and overall offers interesting power as well as very low distortion. Furthermore, if you were expecting active noise reduction, you may be disappointed since it is completely absent here, even if the passive isolation is quite strong. That’s already it.
Let’s move on to the real advantage of this headset: its battery life of 50 hours, including at 50% volume. This is simply remarkable for a Bluetooth headset. On the recharge side, the Beats Solo 4 can reach 100% in less than 3 hours. And with just 10 minutes of charging, you can gain almost 3 hours of battery life.
