According to Bloomberga new version of the Magic Mouse, Apple’s iconic mouse, could see the light of day within one or two years. Released in 2009, this mouse had a then-innovative functionality: the absence of physical buttons for a set of touches and gestures to carry out its tasks.

A necessary upgrade

Despite its astonishing longevity, Apple’s mouse is not without its flaws. After recently switching from Lightning to USB-C, Apple’s new mouse could get a bigger overhaul. Mark Gurman Bloomberg claims to have been contacted by Apple’s design team and indicates that Apple could “design something that better fits the modern era”.

If we immediately think of Apple’s charging system, often criticized for preventing the use of the mouse while it is charging (the charging port being located under the mouse), it may not be the main problem of this device. Indeed, the Magic Mouse is announced with a battery life of one month. The weak point of the mouse would surely be its ergonomics.

With the ever more intensive use of mice in certain professions, the Magic Mouse, despite its intuitive controls, pales in comparison to other models. Sold for 85 euros on the Apple website, it is located in a segment where we find, for example, the MX Master 3S from Logitech, which offers a more vertical design, more respectful of prolonged use.

Between the positioning of its charging and its ergonomics, there are many areas for improvement for Apple, which could release this new model in the coming years and thus create the new mouse for the next 15 years.
