If the ice should go away as the morning progresses, watch out for the rain which can still make our roads slippery.
Late night and early Sunday, there could still be (slush) snow or freezing rain which will then quickly turn into (sometimes moderate) rain in the morning, reports the Royal Meteorological Institute in its bulletin. The weather will then be significantly milder but quite windy with more rain or showers. The maxima will oscillate between 5 and 13 degrees and there will be gusts around 60 km/h.
The sky will be very cloudy to overcast with occasional moderate rain. Early in the morning, there will still be a risk of freezing rain in the eastern cantons and the possibility of (melting) snow in the north-east of the country. In the afternoon, precipitation will become rather intermittent. “Between Saturday midnight and Monday morning, the precipitation will be quite significant at times and we can locally record 30 to 40 l/m2, mainly in the south of the provinces of Namur and Luxembourg (with more than 25 l/m2 in 24 hours). )”specifies the institute.
In the Namur region and the province of Luxembourg, as the IRM reminds us, we are still expecting 30 to 40l/m², until tomorrow morning. “After the ice problem, we will have to remain vigilant”notes Pascal Mormal, of the Royal Meteorological Institute. “Roads may remain slippery. We can fear some excesses given what is expected to happen“.
It will be noticeably milder with maximums of 5 or 6 degrees in the upper Ardennes to 12 or 13 degrees in the west. The wind will be moderate to fairly strong, and quite strong to sometimes strong at sea, blowing from south to southwest with gusts of 55 to 65 km/h and possibly up to 75 km/h on the Ardennes terrain.
