Huawei was proud, last month, to announce the launch of HarmonyOS Next 5, its entirely in-house multiplatform system. It was necessary to understand that the system was no longer based at all on any line of Android code, and that it thus marked the first day of total autonomy on the part of the Chinese brand with regard to systems for smartphones and tablets.
If the break was announced as clear and definitive, in reality, HarmonyOS does not escape Android applications. On the‘AppGallery, we can thus find an Android emulator which allows users to continue to enjoy their favorite APKs.
Because not all Western applications and services have yet switched to HarmonyOS. And the independence desired by Huawei is not necessarily achieved by all users, accustomed to using their applications… We must then turn to the application EasyBbroad which is based on microGan open-source project that emulates the functions of Google Play Services.
This involves recreating an Android environment, with compatible applications installed in a dedicated folder. You will therefore have to go to this folder to find the application icons.
The proposed solution is not perfect, but helps reassure users and offer a smooth transition before HarmonyOS wants to be perfectly autonomous.
