From Muri bei Bern, headquarters of the Swiss Football Association (ASF), to the Wankdorf stadium, home of Young Boys, it is less than 10 kilometers. By crossing them, Giorgio Contini is however preparing to change dimension. The assistant coach of the national team coach Murat Yakin will become the head coach of the Swiss champion club, where he succeeds Patrick Rahmen, dismissed at the beginning of October, via an interim period from Joël Magnin. Unveiled Wednesday morning by Blickthe movement was confirmed at the beginning of the afternoon by the ASF and by YB.
No conflict in this operation: the two communiqués left at the same time (2:30 p.m.). Young Boys wanted Contini, who had extended his lease with the Swiss team this summer, where he arrived in February, but who had not hidden his pressing desire to (re)become head coach. He had been notably at Lausanne-Sport and Grasshopper. The ASF therefore agreed to terminate its contract which ran until the end of 2025 (with extension envisaged in the event of qualification for the 2026 World Cup).
