Quebec in the top 15 best destinations to visit for Christmas, according to CNN Travel

The CNN news network places the Quebec region among the 15 best destinations in the world for celebrating Christmas and the holiday season, along with Barcelona, Strasbourg and New York.

From England to the Philippines, CNN Travel presents the 15 places in the world that traditionally offer an exceptional festive atmosphere for holidays imbued with the spirit of Christmas, where the name of Quebec appears.

With its picturesque streets of the historic Petit Champlain district, its German Christmas Market and its winter activities for outdoor enthusiasts, Quebec City benefits from great visibility thanks to this publication released Monday.

“The impact coming from an organization like CNN is enormous. This represents a great value in terms of recognition of being among the best cities in the world. This confirms that we can really stand out as a winter destination,” says Robert Mercure, general manager of Destination Québec cite (DQc), who was very happy with this news.

This publication is likely to result in very interesting economic benefits for the tourism industry, according to Mr. Mercure, given the proximity of Quebec to the American market.

“A lot of trips are organized at the last minute. The American market is the largest market for Quebec outside of Canada. We are accessible not only by plane, but also by car,” he added.

A popular winter destination

In the space of twenty years, Quebec City has managed to carve out a place for itself as a destination during the holiday season, notably with initiatives such as the Quebec German Christmas Market, which is currently in full swing and which welcomes visitors from all over the world.

The satisfaction rate that we see in hotels and among our interactions with tourists, people fall in love with the city and the region of Quebec. We really stand out more and more in winter and they become our ambassadors. There is nothing better,” Mr. Mercure continued.

CNN also mentions the dates for the Quebec Carnival, which will take place from February 7 to 16, 2025, for visitors who will not be able to come for Christmas.

“Having the support of a credible and reputable news source like CNN is quite a pat on the back for the destination. We have always worked to make our magnificent city shine during the winter months. Now we are starting to be among the best. We can be very proud of it, but we must continue to make constant efforts,” adds the general director of DQc.
