It was at the end of last year that LG presented its new range of Gram ultraportables, renowned for the lightness and slim design of its references. A significant update that should not overshadow the old models, which are still worth it, especially when they are less expensive: for example, the LG Gram 16 2021 version, still recommendable, is offered at half price, under 1,000 euros, during the summer sales.

A featherweight that you can take anywhere
The main advantage of the LG Gram 16 laptop is written in its name. Indeed, this ultraportable is very light and weighs only 1.19 kg, which makes it very easy to transport on the move and therefore ideal for nomadic workers. The models in this series are also known for their slim design: the thickness of the one we are interested in here does not exceed 17 mm. To offer such lightness, the brand has bet on a magnesium alloy, which promises durability and shock resistance. But be careful, this chassis is so flexible that it tends to sag slightly under the pressure of the fingers.
Design-wise, everything is very minimalist, even a little austere. And screen-wise, we have a 16-inch QHD+ (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) panel, in 16:10 format, which allows us to work on a larger screen surface. A very good point.
A great power on the program
Inside, there is a twelve-core Intel Core i7-1360P processor, clocked at 3.7 GHz (boost up to 5 GHz) and supported by 32 GB of RAM. Such a configuration makes it possible to chain office tasks together smoothly, and even to multitask without a hitch with a good dose of responsiveness. The generous 1 TB SSD offers a large storage capacity, as well as reduced loading times and very fast launches of the machine. On the other hand, this LG Gram 16 is not intended to be used for gaming, since it does not have a dedicated graphics card. Thanks to the Iris Xe Graphics controller, it is however possible to run a few titles that are not very resource-intensive.
Regarding its autonomy, LG promises a usage time of 22 hours thanks to the 80 Wh battery, but according to our test, it is much lower. Everything will depend on the nature of your uses, obviously. Finally, this laptop has a rather extensive connectivity: two USB 3.2 ports, a microSD card reader, two USB-C ports compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and Power Delivery, a jack port and an HDMI port.
