Thursday, November 21, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 released a highly anticipated game mode for players, all in record time for a game in the franchise. Unfortunately, this launch did not go as well as expected due to a recurring problem that has plagued the series for years.

With Black Ops 6, Call of Duty has returned in better shape than ever, making us forget the lackluster release of Modern Warfare 3 last year. Beyond an excellent score of 17/20 in our columns and 83/100 on Metacritic, Treyarch's title was the biggest Call of Duty release in the license to the point of setting new records for the first day and opening weekend, as is often the case with each release of a new episode. If everything seems to be going well for Activision's and now Microsoft's flagship franchise, the release of a new game mode did not go as well as hoped.

Cheating, a modern scourge for the Call of Duty saga

Thursday November 21, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 welcomed its ranked mode, less than a month after its launch, which is quite short compared to previous games in the franchise. Obviously, this type of competitive games was expected from players, both to shine through a ranking system, but also to collect exclusive rewards such as operator skins available only in this mode for example. If the arrival of the ranked should delight the players, from its launch day, a problem that had become systematic in the games of the franchise came to spoil the party: cheating!

“Where is the anti-cheat?!”

As the InsiderGaming report, numerous clips are circulating on social networks showing streamers and professional players coming face to face with hackers who come to disrupt others' games with cheat tools. On X (formerly Twitter), Chris 'Parasite' Duarte, one of the first Call of Duty World Champions posted the following message: “HACKERS HACKERS HACKERS HACKERS HACKERS HACKERS IN ALL PARTS WHERE THE TREYARCH ANTI CHEAT ISSame goes for Dashy, last year's Call of Duty League world champion, who posted a video showing games with teams full of ranked cheaters.

To be honest, This is not a problem specific to Black Ops 6, but to most games in the franchise in recent years. Just look at the rankings of the best ranked players which are often full of cheaters, despite the series' anti-cheat software called Ricochet. Despite all the tools deployed by Activision, it seems that this problem is still entrenched in the franchise and that it is going to be hard to get rid of it for good.
