A few days ago, a form was available for people who might be interested in pre-ordering future Samsung Galaxy S25 smartphones. This document mentioned an announcement that could take place on January 5, just a few days before the CES show in Las Vegas which will officially begin on January 7. Remember that the Galaxy S24 was presented on January 17, 2024. Compared to January 5, Samsung would therefore have brought forward its official presentation date?
However, according to a renowned leaker, Max Jambor, this would not be the case. Indeed, according to him, the Samsung Galaxy S25 smartphones will be officially announced on January 22. The choice of this date is not trivial. Samsung would thus maintain its tradition of winter launches on Wednesdays, as for the last two generations. In addition, this programming also allows the Korean brand to position itself after the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, thus avoiding any direct media competition. Indeed, if the brand announced its new high-end models just before this global meeting, the message would be too quickly forgotten, overwritten by the CES announcements.
The new series should include four models: the standard Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25 Plus, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and a new version called Galaxy S25 Slim. The latter could be launched in a limited series to test the market’s reaction to a thinner format.
Promising technical characteristics
The dimensions of the new models reveal a move towards more compact devices. According to recent serious leaks, the standard Galaxy S25 would measure 146.94 x 70.46 x 7.25 mm, the Galaxy S25 Plus 158.44 x 75.79 x 7.35 mm, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra 162.82 x 77.65 x 8.25mm. Screens would range from 6.2 inches for the base model to 6.9 inches for the Ultra. Performance-wise, prognosticators disagree. Some claim that the Galaxy S25 series will only feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for all models and regardless of market, while others believe that there will be a split between devices sold in the United States (equipped with the Qualcomm chipset) and those available in Europe, where the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus could integrate Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chip. The RAM could reach 16 GB on certain models, allowing optimal multitasking management.
Finally, the photo part should also evolve, particularly on the S25 Ultra. The latter could receive new 50-megapixel sensors for the ultra-wide-angle and the secondary telephoto lens, a significant improvement compared to the current 12 and 10 megapixels. Colors offered will include black, blue, green and titanium, with exclusive shades available on Samsung’s online store.
