The new Rokid glasses were revealed at https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/rokid-glasses-transform-arai-into-daily-essentials-unveiled-at-rokid-jungle-2024-302310075 .html during the Rokid Jungle 2024 event in China. The brand has already launched several AR wearable products this year, including the Rokid AR Lite for spatial computing, which was crowdfunded on Kickstarter.
Rokid’s latest product is a pair of smart glasses with a screen and frames designed by eyewear brand Bolon. They are supposed to combine augmented reality and AI. Depending on the brand, you can use the gadget for object recognition, text translation, and estimating the calorie count of foods. Additionally, the company announced a partnership with Garmin; one suggested use case is for cyclists to be able to see directions and health metrics like heart rate while they ride.
The wearable features a 12MP camera and built-in speakers and runs on the Qualcomm AR1 Snapdragon processor, just like the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses ($289.00 currently on Amazon). The glasses also feature a 0.13-inch JBD MicroLED display, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. Rokid says the gadget can last up to four hours, fully charging in 20 minutes, and the wireless charging case allows for up to ten full charges.
The glasses weigh 49g and customers can choose from a range of frame colors. Additionally, the wearable device can accommodate customized lenses for users with myopia or astigmatism. The Rokid glasses have an MSRP of 2,499 yuan (~$345) in China and are expected to be released between April and June. The company has hinted at an international rollout, but it’s not yet clear when that will happen.
