WhatsApp helps groups to organize themselves better: events are accessible to everyone
Group chats are one of the most important tools for messaging apps because they allow users to organize, collaborate, and share experiences. WhatsApp focuses a lot on function and is working on several new features to improve user experience. Among these we saw event reminders and the ability to set cover photos, which will improve visual identification in group chats, giving users greater flexibility and clarity when organizing or participation in activities. Now, in the latest beta for Android, a new function related to groups has arrived, which will allow everyone to create events, whether or not the chat is connected to a community. Why do we say this? Because in the beta version of Android 2.24.9.20, the possibility appeared for participants in group chats linked to Communities to create an event. Now, in the latest Android beta version 2.24.14.9, the feature is available to all groups, even those not associated with Communities.

Events allows you to organize meetings or online meetings directly from the group chat, specifying details such as name, description, date, location and whether a voice or video call is required. Once an event has been created, chat members can view it and decide whether or not to accept the invitation, while whoever created it can decide to update the details if necessary. It is important to note that events are always end-to-end encrypted, meaning that only participants in the conversation have access to associated details and communications, ensuring the privacy of all group members. The new feature was first seen in the beta channel on Android, but as WhatsApp rolls it out to all users, even those using the stable version (on Android or iOS) can enjoy it in normal group chats.
