Updating your PC to Windows 11 is not without risk. Indeed, the new versions offered by Microsoft regularly contain bugs, with sometimes terrible consequences for users.

New example, the June patch, aka update KB5039302, prevents some people from turning on their computer. More precisely, these people are facing untimely restarts preventing them from using their PC.

These situations appear mainly on PCs running Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2. Microsoft emphasizes that these inconveniences are more likely “affect devices using VM tools and nested virtualization features, such as CloudPC, DevBox, Azure Virtual Desktop”.

As we write these lines, the Redmond firm explained that it is in the process of correcting this problem, while specifying that the update is no longer available via Windows Update to prevent this bug from claiming new victims.

If the installation of this version has already been done, and no problems have been encountered so far, it is advisable to get rid of it by following these steps:

  • Access Windows 11 Settings;
  • Open the Windows Update menu;
  • Go to the Update History section;
  • Click on the Uninstall updates button;
  • Select update KB5039302;
  • Press the Uninstall button;
  • Touch Yes to validate the operation.

For systems affected by restart issues, Microsoft recommends performing “recovery operations to restore normal use”.
