The franchise Dark Souls stopped in 2016 with the third opus, or even in 2017 with the launch of the second expansion, The Ringed City. From, FromSoftware has moved on, whether with Axe: Shadows Die Twice, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon and of course Elden Ring. Dark Soulsfor its part, re-emerged in 2018 with a remastered version of the first opus for modern platforms (of the time), developed by QLOC.
However, now the franchise could make its comeback, but not with a Dark Souls 4. This is theinsider Nick Baker who spoke on a podcast of XboxEra this weekend, relaying a tantalizing rumor: a remaster of Dark Souls III would be in development. Enough to make fans jump for several reasons. Already, the 2016 title is still very beautiful and perfectly playable today, especially taking advantage of the framerate increased on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Difficult to see what a simple remaster could improveif not for some visual effects, but we would be far from a true remake, like the magnificent Demon’s Souls of Bluepoint Games for PS5.
And, of course, Bloodborne fans were not happy with this rumor. The title has been in limbo on the PS4 for years, more or less serious rumors of a remake or remaster appear from time to time, but nothing concrete. Let us remember, however, that Bloodborne is published by Sony and the Dark Souls par Bandai Namcowho do not manage their franchises in the same way.
As always with rumors, the information should be taken with a grain of salt while awaiting confirmation from Bandai Namco et FromSoftware. Until then you can buy Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition (GOTY) which brings together the game and its DLC Ashes of Ariandel et The Ringed City from €29.99 on Amazon, Cdiscount, Fnac et Gamesplanet.
