“It’s a beautiful piece. I didn’t know that the COIB logo would appear on it in gold,” confided Cedric Vanbranteghem, director general of the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee. “I hope it’s a good sign. It doesn’t put extra pressure on us, it’s motivation.”

This 20 euro coin is made of silver, with a touch of gold. It presents on the left, on a raised surface, the golden logo of Team Belgium. On the right, a representation of “The Embrace”, the visual identity of the COIB at the Paris Olympics. “The symbol represents two arms that extend to embrace people, the end of which is not visible to evoke the idea of infinity. It is a message of unity,” commented Giovanni Van de Velde , Commissioner of Coins.

“It’s a tradition that makes us proud, one month before the Olympics,” added Jean-Michel Saive, president of the COIB.

On the reverse, the coin shows a portrait of King Philip. With a diameter of 37 mm, it is stamped with Belle-Epreuve quality and is limited to 2,500 copies worldwide.
