Epson has launched a new Expression XP-8800 photo printer in the United States. The company’s new Expression printer features a 6-ink color ink system, integrated scanner and copier. You can use this printer to print family photos, greeting cards and more, in a borderless print size of 8.5 x 11 inches.
Epson claims the printer can print high-quality photos from your laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone with a processing time of 10 seconds. The Expression XP-8800 features a 4.3-inch color touchscreen. Additionally, it supports Wi-Fi, which means you can also control the printer directly through the Epson Smart Panel app.
It has two separate trays for plain paper and photo paper and can handle up to 200 sheets. It also has a rear feed for specialty papers. It uses 6-color Claria Photo HD ink cartridges from the 340 series: one black, one cyan, one magenta, one yellow, one light cyan and one light magenta. Unfortunately, the printer does not support cartridges or ink from other brands, which means you have to rely solely on cartridges from Epson.
The Expression offers a maximum print resolution of 5760 x 1440 DPI and the ISO speed can reach 9.5 ppm when printing in color, while the resolution for printing in black is 720 x 720 DPI and ISO speed can reach 9ppm.
Other features of the Expression XP-8800 include wireless printing with WiFi Direct, automatic two-sided printing, borderless printing, copying and scanning. However, the printer does not have a large format printing function. Epson also offers a Creative Print mobile app for smartphones, which allows users to create personalized cards, stationery and more, and you can print them directly from the app with a simple command. As for dimensions, the device weighs 6.64 kg and measures 349 x 527 x 183 mm (~13.7 x 20.7 x 7.2 inches).
You can buy the Epson Expression XP-8800 Photo Printer for $299 from Epson’s online store and Amazon. It is currently available on the American market and is offered in black. Visit the official Epson XP-8800 product page for more information.
