At least six people, including four rescuers affiliated with Hezbollah, were killed in an Israeli strike targeting Arabsalim, a town in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced Thursday, November 14. An Israeli raid targeting a Lebanese Civil Defense center also left twelve dead in a neighborhood of Baalbek, a large city located in eastern Lebanon where Hezbollah is based, again according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. Israel in the UN’s sights. The methods of warfare used by Israel in the Gaza Strip “correspond to the characteristics of a genocide”affirmed the UN Special Committee responsible for investigating Israeli practices. The body, made up of three UN member states – Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Senegal – highlights the “massive civilian casualties and intentionally life-threatening conditions imposed on Palestinians there”in a report to be presented Monday to the UN General Assembly in New York.
Iran’s nuclear program. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, called on Iran to achieve “results” with the IAEA regarding the control of its nuclear program to avoid “the war”. “Iran’s nuclear facilities must not be attacked”he added, visiting Tehran, three days after Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz ruled that Iran was “more exposed than ever to strikes on its nuclear installations”. After an exchange with Rafael Grossi, the head of Iranian diplomacy, Abbas Araghchi, warned that his country would not negotiate “under intimidation” on its nuclear program.
Israel continues to shell southern Beirut. A strike targeted the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital on Thursday, November 14, after a new call to evacuate published by the Israeli army for the areas of Choueifat, al-Omrousiya and Ghobeiry. Since Tuesday, at least six series of strikes have targeted the southern suburbs of the city, killing at least eight people. “We will not cease fire, we will not let up, and we will not allow any agreement that does not include the achievement of the objectives of the war, and in particular the right of Israel to act alone against any terrorist activity”, warned the new Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, on Tuesday.
Israeli soldiers targeted by Hezbollah. The Lebanese Islamist movement declared, overnight, having fired missiles at Israeli soldiers in northern Israel, shortly after claiming another strike on troops of the Jewish state deployed in southern Lebanon. On Wednesday, the Israeli army announced the death of six soldiers in southern Lebanon, bringing to 47 the number of its soldiers who fell in fighting with Hezbollah.
