In a future update, WhatsApp’s image sharing mechanics will be simplified. WhatsApp will roll out a new image gallery making multiple selection much easier.

Sending multiple images simultaneously in a WhatsApp conversation will soon be much easier. The messaging application is in fact deploying, in beta, a new gallery making the mechanics of multiple image selection much simpler than it is currently.

WhatsApp will integrate direct access to the gallery

Currently deployed in the beta version of WhatsApp marked 2.24.23.11 on Android smartphones, this new gallery is now accessible directly from the conversation bar. Rather than opening the camera by default, it is now possible to directly access the gallery via a dedicated button. The number of steps to access the gallery is not only reduced, but above all, this new system allows you to select several images or videos simultaneously upon opening. No more need, a priori, to select a first image before being able to then select others via the + button as is currently the case.

The process of sharing photos and videos is also faster. Because with this new gallery, WhatsApp skips the step during which the first image was displayed in the editing window. However, editing an image remains possible after selecting an image. WhatsApp has in fact grafted a button allowing you to activate the editor directly in the chat bar.

Another interesting new feature is that you can write the caption associated with your image sharing for all shared photos. Until now, the text that accompanied your image sharing could only be applied to an individual image. Also note that multiple images shared in a conversation are now automatically grouped into a single bubble, even if you have only shared two images at once. Previously, at least four photos or videos were needed to be shared simultaneously for them to be grouped in the same message bubble.

For the moment, the availability date of these new features remains unknown. WhatsApp having already deployed them to users of the beta version of the application, these new features should arrive in the coming weeks in the stable version of the application.

WhatsApp seems to be taking a close interest in image management within its application. A few days ago, a new feature allowing you to search for an image received in a conversation in Google Images was being tested.
