A cat missing for a year was found by its owner in Villar-Saint-Pancrace (Hautes-Alpes). The feline, which had fled, was taken in by a septuagenarian before a veterinarian found the owner.

For a year, a cat named Pipou had run away from his home without leaving a trace, Villar-Saint-Pancrace (Hautes-Alpes). The animal was found in mid-November, to the delight of Simon, its owner.

This long quest began with the feline fleeing, frightened by the dog of one of the owner's roommates. Simon then contacted his veterinarian, put up posters in the village, wrote on Facebook groups, nothing helped. “For me he was dead,” he explains.

“I had mourned”

On November 14, the young man received a phone call informing him that Pipou was alive and in very good health. “I didn’t believe it,” he rewinds. “It’s an animal I cared about a lot, but I had mourned it.”

He then began to look back over the past year. After his escape, Pipou headed towards the Cervières bridge, a few kilometers away. It was there that he crossed paths with Véronique. The sixty-year-old also has several cats. Unable to welcome the new arrival in the neighborhood into her home, she nevertheless fed him twice a day.

A strong relationship was built between them. “He would come next to me when I went out and sat on a rock,” she says. The feline is so close to her that she finds a name for him and renames him Glue.

A visit to the vet that changes everything

The year passes like this until the day Véronique tries to take him to the vet. Even if he is not very shy, Glue does not let himself be caught. She achieves her goals with a landing net. During his visit, the veterinarian then discovers the animal's past and is able to trace it back to its owner. So on vacation, he rushes back to Briançonnais to collect his furball.

Simon had to reorganize his life a little to make room for his companion. But without regrets. “It’s going very well,” he declares delighted. “He’s very cuddly, very affectionate, glued to me all the time.” To thank the septuagenarian for taking care of her cat, Simon plans to return to see her soon.
