All Galaxy S25s would be entitled to a Snapdragon chip… and to a price increase?

The year 2025 could well look like 2023 for Galaxy S25 smartphones. Samsung would indeed intend to equip the models of its high-end family with a Qualcomm chip everywhere in the world… as was the case with the Galaxy S23. The Galaxy S24s were shared between a Snapdragon and an Exynos.

All the Galaxy S25 which will be sold on the face of the planet at the beginning of next year could well be equipped with the future high-end chip from Qualcomm, believes analyst Ming-Chi Kuo well known in the Apple world. For many smartphone users Samsungand especially in Europe, this is very good news because they will not have to undergo an Exynos chip.

Beware of rising prices

Samsung is used to dividing the world into two camps: on the one hand, those who are entitled to a state-of-the-art Qualcomm chip (the United States, Canada, China and even Japan). Those who are unlucky enough not to live in this area – first and foremost, Europeans – have to deal with Galaxy S smartphones equipped with Exynos chips, in other words silicon developed by Samsung.

These chips have a bad reputation: they are regularly less efficient than equivalent Snapdragons, and they consume more. Surprise in 2023: the Galaxy S23s were all equipped with a Qualcomm chip, namely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. But Samsung returned to its old habits the following year, with the Galaxy S24 equipped with either a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, or an Exynos 2400.

Many grumbled, however we had to recognize that the two chips were equal, as we highlighted in our test. Rather encouraging then, but here it is: according to Kuo, Samsung is encountering production problems for the Exynos 2500 engraved in 3 nm. The returns simply wouldn’t be enough.

The different models of the Galaxy S25 should therefore, logically, feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4; and for the occasion, Qualcomm would take full advantage by increasing its prices by 25 to 30%. Should we fear a surge in prices for these models?
