Design: a matter of taste!

Apple, Google and Samsung have their own design characteristics. And even if the beauty of a smartphone is not everything, we are sensitive to it. However, it is difficult to say which of the three is the most beautiful because it is a very personal feeling. Instead, let’s look at how they are composed.

In terms of rear photo sensors, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a square layout with four sensors, giving a balanced appearance. Available in black, blue, white and natural, it features a titanium frame. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, meanwhile, sports a more rectangular design for its four sensors, in a choice of black, gray, purple and amber, and also uses a titanium frame. Finally, the Google Pixel 8 Pro features a horizontal layout of its three sensors, offering a simpler aesthetic in blue, black, or porcelain with a glass frame.

In terms of dimensions, the iPhone 15 Pro Max measures 159.9 mm in height, 76.7 mm in width and 8.25 mm in thickness, for a weight of 221 grams. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is slightly larger and heavier, measuring 162.3 mm in height, 79 mm in width, 8.6 mm in thickness and weighing 232 grams. The Pixel 8 Pro offers dimensions comparable to those of the S24 Ultra, but it weighs a little less at 213 grams.

The technical characteristics: it’s top of the range!

We are on premium smartphones, so obviously the manufacturers have gone all out in terms of technical characteristics and have equipped their mobiles with super powerful processors. So, the iPhone 15 Pro Max works with the Apple A17 Pro chip and 8 GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 12 GB of RAM. The Pixel 8 Pro uses Google’s Tensor G3, also with 12GB of RAM.

For storage, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S24 Ultra offer options up to 1TB, while the Pixel 8 Pro is limited to 256GB, with no ability to expand via microSD for all three devices.

The AMOLED screens are high-end on these high-end smartphones: 6.7 inches for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, 6.8 inches for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and 6.7 inches for the Pixel 8 Pro. All three support a 120Hz refresh rate.

In terms of battery life, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Galaxy S24 Ultra both have a 5000 mAh battery, while the Pixel 8 Pro stands out slightly with a 5050 mAh battery. In terms of charging speeds, the Galaxy S24 Ultra takes the lead with a supported charging power of 45 watts, compared to 27 watts for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and 30 watts for the Pixel 8 Pro. The Galaxy S24 Ultra and Pixel 8 Pro offer wireless charging, at 10 watts and 23 watts, respectively.
