A new Preview version of Windows 11 is arriving on the DEV channel of the Windows Insider program. This build 26120.961 is installed through update KB5038575.
Microsoft announces a small set of general improvements and fixes. It is a kind of maintenance release to improve the overall user experience. However, there is no precise detail around these different adjustments.
One of the highlights concerns the Store. All PCs registered on the Canary, Dev and Beta channels running version 22405.xxxx.x of this service can make fast and secure payments with Wallet. The firm adds that it is possible to earn Rewards points in the Store and exchange them if necessary for a gift card during payment to apply to your purchase.
When initially published, a known issue was listed. It concerned the live captions which no longer worked. Microsoft has since updated its announcement, specifying that the investigation carried out made it possible to determine the nature of the problem and above all to provide a solution. Clearly this failure has been resolved.
Microsoft reminds that the updates published on the development channel are based on Windows 11 24H2. The new things proposed may never find their way to the general public. The Dev channel is a testing ground so new features tested and evaluated may change over time, be removed or replaced, and may never be released beyond the Windows Insiders program.
Finally, the deployment relies on a phased approach starting with a subset of users and increasing over time.
