The G6 is a rather thin and elegant gaming monitor with a design far from the “SF g@m3rz” aesthetic, we imagine that you understand what we are talking about. We are on a 27-inch flat QD-OLED panel, QHD definition (no need for more for 27 inches) and with an impressive display frequency of 360Hz. Adaptive-Sync, FreeSync, G-Sync compatibility. That’s for the stupid and nasty technical characteristics, but we’re obviously going to go further.

Why is this G6 a gem in use?

We were able to receive the Odyssey G6 in advance at the editorial office and the product was tested in length, width and width. If you would like to know all our measurements and analyzes resulting from this test, you can find it in full on the site. Spoiler alert: in conclusion, we give the maximum score. Moreover, the test is titled “This is the best 27-inch PC gaming screen that I have tested”. I swear we’re not paid a single cent to say that, it’s just true. Is the image sublime, luminous, ultra-responsive and ultra-fluid? What can I say other than well done?

Overall, this screen is really impressive, practical and relevant for the overwhelming majority of gamers. For what ? Because, to design it, Samsung was quite clever. In fact, the manufacturer reused the excellent panel from its S95D television. If you don’t know what we’re referring to and want to find out more about this product, here’s our full review of the S95D. Why is this smart? First, of course, there is a purely economic aspect: yes, using the same slab makes things easier in the factory. Then, and this is the point which seems to us to be the most interesting, the powerful anti-reflection filter seemed relevant to us from the start for a PC screen.

As we have just said, the great strength of the S95D was this powerful anti-reflective filter, the “Glare-Free” OLED, combined with high brightness. For the first time, a screen using QD-OLED technology does not have a glossy appearance. For the first time, no visual detail is lost, even when the product is bombarded with light. For video games, it’s great. On the G6, we therefore find all the advantages of OLED (finesse, viewing angles, perfect blacks, ultra-short response time of 0.03 ms) without its major disadvantages which are the lack of brightness and reflections in dark areas.

Speaking of the disadvantages linked to OLED, you are surely wondering about the concerns of marking and burning of the screen. So we asked Samsung representatives about this. Well know that great efforts have been made, particularly in terms of the panel’s cooling system. Thanks to the implementation of a particular air flow, the G6 heats up 5x less than other OLED models on the market. Indeed, the exhibition models turned on all day weren’t particularly hot when we ran our hand over them. Already, marking problems are generally well under control in 2024 thanks to cleaning and frequent shifts of pixels at risk, a priori, thanks to this advance in panel cooling, the G6 should really not pose any problems.

We won’t spoil the test for you, but you understand: the G6 is a beautiful beast and it is quite difficult to find real faults in it. It is released today at the price of… €999. It stings, but it’s surely the best 27-inch gaming monitor on the market. Note that you are entitled to a small reduction in your basket on the official Samsung website with the promo code OLED5, valid until July 18.
