Apple launches into AI and promises intelligent features

Apple announced its own artificial intelligence applications at its annual developers conference. Where the tech giant hopes to make a difference: Smart technology will understand your personal situation, CEO Tim Cook promised.

In the news : Apple presented some new features at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The biggest is Apple Intelligence, its version of artificial intelligence for its own devices like the iPhone. Apple also confirmed that it has entered into an alliance with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT.

The context : Apple has been criticized in recent months for its absence in the rapidly evolving field of AI. A recovery is therefore more than necessary, especially since the share price has stagnated somewhat this year.

Concretely : Cook promises “personal intelligence,” meaning smart devices will know your relationships and habits, making interacting with the AI assistant Siri very intuitive. Siri will then be able to search through apps on the iPhone and answer questions such as:

  • “Show me all the things I sent Tim this week.” »
  • “Show me all the recent photos of my son. »
  • “Play the podcast my mom sent.” »

Also coming: Email processing will be more personalized, allowing you to read messages that are important to you more quickly. For example, the system will immediately summarize the message instead of showing the first few lines.

Genmoji

For fun : Apple will allow you to create emojis yourself, called “genmoji”.

The reaction of the stock market: Investors reacted coolly, sending the stock down nearly 2%. But it became a tradition after a speech by Cook. The stock price first plunges and only rises a few days later.
